Our Legal Department is seeking a talented and dynamic individual that is passionate about their work and is willing to take on new challenges. The Deputy General Counsel will primarily serve as the senior legal advisor to Ezee Fiber’s franchise, construction, and access teams, ensuring timely deployment of our fiber infrastructure within the United States. Additionally, the Deputy General Counsel will provide day-to-day legal support and advice to various internal clients, including litigation, compliance and contract management support. This position will report directly to the General Counsel.
• Lead negotiation, drafting, and review of all construction, installation, pole & conduit, franchise, and access agreements.
• Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements supporting Ezee Fiber’s network expansion and infrastructure deployment, including joint-build agreements, fiber construction and supply agreements, dark fiber leases, indefeasible rights of use (IRUs), colocation agreements, and other network infrastructure and connectivity agreements.
• Monitor, research, and analyze federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and regulatory developments affecting Ezee Fiber’s network infrastructure, fiber deployment, construction, access rights, and related operations; advise executive leadership and business partners on associated legal and regulatory risks.
• Advise and oversee all litigation, administrative hearings, and disputes related to the foregoing matters.
• Develop legal strategies to address permitting delays and disputes.
• Collaborate with the government affairs, engineering, and construction teams to align legal frameworks with deployment timelines.
• Represent Ezee Fiber in negotiations with municipalities, utilities, and regulatory agencies.
• Manage corporate governance and compliance programs.
• Complete other tasks as may be assigned from time to time, such as commercial and government sales contracts and various company initiatives.
• Serve as acting General Counsel in the absence of the General Counsel.
• Perform other legal and strategic responsibilities as assigned.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state and member in good standing.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Substantial legal experience within the telecommunications industry.
• Demonstrated experience with franchise, construction, right-of-way, pole attachment/conduit, access, permitting, and related regulatory matters.
